Movie Review: Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows!

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows!
duration: 2hrs 9min.
Let me first say that the movie at times can feel a little drawn out do to the duration of the movie. The duration is 129 minutes but don't let this deter you from watching this movie. The way i like to do reviews is by breaking them down into categories such as: Visuals, Action, Drama, Comedy, Plot, and Audio. This helps me get to the main points of the movie as well as the bad aspects of the movie.

Plot: Sherlock Holmes and DR. John Watson will face their greatest threat yet, the infamous Professor James Moriarty. If the duo fails to stop the Professor, then all is lost. The plot its self is very typical its more straightforward with less emphasis on suspense, but it gets the job done. It like watching a cat and mouse chase each other but with big explosion and lots of fight scenes.

Visuals:The background visuals at times can seem a little unpolished but, not to the point where it will effect you from watching the movie. The special effects are amazing and well done. The explosions are big and beautiful. Overall they did a great job on the cg work but could have polished it up a tad more.

Audio:The sound track fits right in with the movies fast paced action scenes, but also complements it drama scenes as well. I personally like it when the movies use all instrumental music that coincides with the movies era.

Action:Their isn't much to say about the action scenes other then they are freaking AWESOME!

Drams:Their are a few scenes that add an extra understanding into the personalities of the two main characters (Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson). If you saw the first Sherlock Holmes movie then you will know Mr. Holmes does want to be alone. In A Game Of Shadows they confront this problem and it is kinda of emotional but funny.

Comedy:As expected from a movie with actors such as , Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law.
Robert Downey Jr plays his role fantastically and with his dry sense of humor you will laugh at the dumbest things. Without Jude Law by his side some of the jokes, witty comments, and stupidity wouldn't make sense. As a duo they work well together and complement each others personality.

Visuals: 8/10, Action: 9/10, Drama: 7/10, Comedy: 8/10, Audio: 8/10, Plot: 7/10

Overall: 7.5/10

I would recommend seeing this movie in the theaters. The plot at times seems a little farfetched but then again it is a Sherlock Holmes movie. There are a few times where things can feel drawn out but not enough to annoy you. Some scenes will leave you wondering how Mr Holmes got himself out of a situation. The movie in my opinion is better than the first one and worth the price of admissions. If you like mystery/action and not your ordinary action movie then this is a must see for all ages. I gave it a 7.5/10 because of some dark scenes at times, plain old cat and mouse plot, but great action and a decent comedy as well.
